Power
to Grid -
Overseas, in some countries, and as I understand it, in Queensland and the ACT at the moment, the power suppliers have been instructed to pay to you for generating power that you put into the grid. They will pay you approximately triple your cost. So, supposing you are paying 15 cents a kilowatt, you will receive 45 cents a kilowatt. Now, that doesn’t sound a great deal of money, but if you have ten hours minimum capacity of sun a day, that’s 10 x 45 cents, which is close to five dollars a day, multiply that by 7, so you’re looking at thirty-five dollars a week. Take out your own frugal power consumption, so say you have a margin of twenty dollars a week, now, twenty dollars x 52 weeks of the year, that’s over one thousand dollars thank you very much, which is in your pocket, which is money that you would earn without having to pay tax. It doesn’t sound a great deal of money, but one thousand dollars to me is a large item, and you can put that to good use I am sure, and if you took your tax into account you would be saving one thousand, two, three or four hundred dollars a year. And, as power goes up in price you would save more. This is quite a considerable item for the long term. As people are getting older
they might look to think, well, I will get this power system installed
now, I’m retiring in five years time, and when that occurs I wont
have to pay power bills. How wonderful is that. And, that would make
rather a large difference to your security of supply of power, but also
the comfort of not having to pay the power bill itself. There has just
been a world wide competition with 2 million dollars price money held
in the Middle East for the most innovative, new solar product for the
year. I’m thrilled to say the Australian entry won first prize
for a solar panel which produces 50% more power for the same area of
catchment. However, realize that the research and effort to create this
product has been over a twenty-five year period at least. Phone
