Water Purifier

There has just been a world wide competition with 2 million dollars price money held in the Middle East for the most innovative, new solar product for the year. I’m thrilled to say the Australian entry won first prize for a solar panel which produces 50% more power for the same area of catchment. However, realize that the research and effort to create this product has been over a twenty-five year period at least.

The hot entry from Australia for next year’s competition will be the “solar distiller”. This is a first in the world and it’s only slightly larger than a brief case and has the capacity to distill pure water from sea water or distill pure water from contaminated water at the rate of approximately a litre to a litre and a half per hour. It also has the capacity to boil water for a drink and also cooking capacity to cook a meal without having to light a fire – how fantastic is that? If you think of the applications, for this product every life boat should have one; bush-walkers can carry them (because they are very light) so they do not have to light a fire; the third world – you will not have children dying from water borne diseases; you do not have to decimate your trees to light a fire to cook etc so this is a wonderful, fabulous first in the world product.
